Do you assess adults as well as children?
Yes - we assess children, adolescents and adults. The process is adapted to age, with parent and teacher input for younger clients and a detailed developmental and current-functioning history for adults.
How long does the assessment take?
Typically an initial clinical interview, one or more testing sessions, and a separate feedback session, with the written report provided afterwards. We'll give you a clear schedule and total cost before you begin.
Can a psychologist prescribe ADHD medication?
No. Psychologists do not prescribe. Our report is written so that a GP, paediatrician or psychiatrist can use it when considering medication, and we can help you take that next step.
Are ADHD assessments covered by Medicare?
Assessment sessions are generally not covered by Medicare rebates in the way therapy sessions are. NDIS funding may apply in some circumstances. Please call us and we'll explain the full cost of the assessment up front, before you commit.
What if the assessment shows it is not ADHD?
That's a genuinely useful outcome. A thorough assessment looks at anxiety, trauma, sleep, learning difficulties and other explanations, so you leave with a clearer understanding either way - and recommendations that fit the real picture.
Do I need a referral to book an assessment?
No referral is needed to book with us. If a GP, paediatrician or school has suggested an assessment, bring any letters or reports along as background.
